Christina Mokhtar Hassan, LPC

Hi! It’s nice to meet you! My name is Christina Mokhtar Hassan, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology & Sociology from the University of Central Arkansas and my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Alabama. I have experience in treating young children (0-5yrs old) in both clinical and educational settings. I have provided clinical services to children, families, groups, and individuals including non-profit organizations, schools, in-home services, and IOP programs and have experience working with clients and families regarding anxiety, depression, family conflict and trauma, hyperactivity and impulsivity, life transitions, anger management, and behavioral related issues.

How Can I Help

Although I focus primarily on young children and their families, I have experience working with new mothers, foster care work, autism and developmental disorders, and classroom management consulting. My specialty areas include early childhood mental health, foster care, parent education and psychoeducation, and trauma counseling. In therapy, I utilize person-centered approach with all clients and have special training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy and play therapy. I love helping children find safety and support through play since this is their way of communicating. It is also my priority to support parents and caregivers in fostering growth and care for the family unit to be successful.

More about Me

I enjoy sending time with my family and just recently moved to Texas from Florida. Although, I miss the beach, I love getting to explore Texas, such as finding good food, going on hikes, and visiting local lakes and rivers. I have a 2-year-old golden retriever named Kodi that loves to join my husband and I on local adventures. I also enjoy cooking, painting, crafting, and listening to audio-books in my free time.
