Hello, my name is Dr. Jessica Floyd Alexander. I am a licensed psychologist offering psychological, educational, and developmental evaluations and therapy to individuals, children, teens, and families. I am devoted to helping these individuals find the best ways to understand themselves, those they love, and their place in the world around them.
My expertise lies in evaluating and treating children ages 0–12, with particular specializations in early intervention for trauma, autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, anxiety, and depression. I have experience consulting with daycares, preschools, pediatricians, and educators to create a holistic plan to help children exceed. My goal is to help clients and their families better understand what they need to know to help them navigate multiple systems of care.
I have a passion for providing culturally competent services to my clients. I believe that acknowledging and incorporating a client’s cultural experiences in therapy can be instrumental to emotional and psychological healing. I especially enjoy working with blended families, either through foster care placement, kinship care, interracial adoption, or multi-generational families.
How I Can Help
In therapy, I use a Client-Centered, Strengths-Based approach with all of my clients. I believe that each individual has the tools to work through their challenges and my place is to help highlight these tools. Depending on the issues, I may use a variety of therapy techniques to reach these goals, including attachment-based interventions, Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Narrative Therapy, and Structural Family Therapy.
