Hello, my name is Elizabeth. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who works with children, teens, and adults of all ages. I thrive to help guide both children and adults who may be struggling in different areas, such as depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, emotional dysregulation, distress tolerance, or multicultural issues. As a therapist, I believe in collaboration in order to help clients reach their goals and ambitions. When working with children, I always check in with their caregivers to provide them with tools and strategies to better support their children.
I am a big believer in treating our mental health like we treat physical and dental health; making sure we attend to our emotional hygiene. I take a person-centered approach in therapy and utilize evidence-based therapy approaches such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Skills Training. I am certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy, which is used to target PTSD and trauma in adults.
I am also working toward getting my certification in EMDR, which is another therapy used to help adolescences and adults work through trauma. With my training in Dialectical Behavior Skills, I often utilize mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness skills training in working with patients. I received most of my training at The Children’s Bereavement Center and The University of Texas Health Science Center.
More About Me
When I am not working, I am often spending time with my husband and with my dog, Lt. Dan. We are an active family and are often out and about, whether it’s running or hiking. I also enjoy reading a good book and sipping on some coffee. I am currently trying to take on a new hobby of walk wall climbing.
