Christina Burden, LPC-S

Hello, My Name is Christina Burden and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC-S) and an Approved Supervisor of Licensed Professional Counselor Associates. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Trinity University in 1994 and my Master’s Degree in Clinical Counseling Psychology in 1996. Since then, I have worked in the mental health field in various settings, including education, vocational support, health care, and mental health agencies. I highly value a cognitive behavioral perspective in my work and believe that my diverse background has made me a specialist in providing counseling services to teens and young adults. Recently, I have started serving as a Supervisor for counselors entering the field, and I am enjoying providing them with clinical guidance and career mentorship.

How I Can Help

Working with teens and young adults and their supportive family members is both a privilege and an honor. I have honed my professional listening skills over the years and understand that everyone has their own unique perspective on what has brought them to this moment. At the outset of counseling, I strive to build a sense of trust and rapport with the young people I serve. My goal is to help them share their emotions openly, show me “who they are” and “who they want to be,” and begin the journey towards harnessing their internal voice to support their growth into the person they are striving to become. Through my counseling work, I help young people expand their effective communication skills, clarify their personal goals, and build resilience and coping skills to withstand future challenges.

More About Me

When I am not at Mind Works, you can frequently find me laboring away on an overly ambitious yard project involving native plants and too much sun exposure. I also have a dog and a cat that keep me busy by narrating their internal thoughts for the amusement of anyone around to listen.
