Hello, my name is Rachel; I am a licensed professional counselor that works with children ages 3-17 years old. I also work with adults of all ages. I support children and adults who are struggling with grief, anxiety, depression, divorce, abuse, or trauma. While working with children I also incorporate the caregivers to help them develop techniques and strategies to help their child. I enjoy working with all ages to help people grow and cope with their struggles.
I help children and adults struggling with a death in their life. I work with sudden, parent, grandparent (and/or extended family), suicide, homicide, sibling, illness, and pet death. I provide techniques that allow the individual to express their grief in a non-judgmental setting. I also incorporate creative arts in grief therapy. I support the children and adults I work in remembering their loved one.
I support children and adults that have experienced abuse in their life. I work with emotional, physical, and sexual abuse. For children, I use a mix of cognitive behavioral therapy and play therapy techniques to allow them to express themselves and process the abuse. I then help them with coping skills, especially with triggers. For adults, I primarily use cognitive behavioral therapy to allow them to process and cope with the abuse. For both adults and children, I like to incorporate creative expression if the individual would like.
How I Can Help
My passion is grief and trauma work. I enjoy seeing individuals grow and be able to cope with their struggles. I will work with you and your family from a strength-based approach to encourage processing and to help you develop coping skills that work best for you and/or your family. I look forward to meeting you, getting to know you, and working with you to develop the best plan for you and your family.
More About Me
I love giving back to my community by volunteering at a local non-profit for grieving children. I also love to volunteer at local animal shelters. In my spare time, you will find me walking my dog or spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy relaxing at home (especially on a rainy day) with my dog and a good book.
