Hello, my name is David Diaz de Leon. I am a board-certified pediatrician and am honored to join the Mind Works team. My goal is to provide evidence-based care to improve the mental health of children and their family. I consider the combination of a focus on therapy with potential medical interventions to be a most effective means to treatment. This approach includes the existing therapy services we provide, in-depth discussion with you regarding treatment possibilities, along with collaboration with other professionals to achieve optimal outcomes.
What is my role?
Our focus is to develop an individualized treatment plan for your child and your family. My role is to support the clinicians by discussions with you to determine if medications are the right choice in your child’s treatment plan. We can work together to initiate a plan that involves best medical practices and speaks to the needs of your family. I believe the uniqueness of each situation requires listening to your concerns and working with you to improve the mental well-being of not only your child, but your family dynamic as well.
Education and Experience:
I have practiced for over 14 years as a pediatrician in San Antonio and the surrounding communities. I graduated from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston for both my medical degree and residency training. I am board certified in pediatrics and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Prior to joining the Mind Works team, I worked as an inpatient pediatric hospitalist at both Methodist Children’s Hospital and Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. I then transitioned to outpatient general pediatric care. I am also the father of young children, which provides additional insight into the struggles your child may be experiencing.
More about me:
With the rising mental health needs of children and adolescents, I have focused my practice efforts on improving the mental health of our community. I am married with three children. On our free time we enjoy movie nights, sports and ballet activities, and volunteering in the community.
