
Hello, my name is Desiree Reyes I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. Previously to becoming an LPC, I was an educator in a public-school setting for 8 years. Throughout my career I have worked with Refugee, Grieving, Foster Care, and children with Special Needs. I enjoy assisting children in identify their strengths and encourage their growth in an empathetic and caring manner. I believe in helping children cope with big emotions and daily life challenges as they develop into resilient adults.
How I Can Help
With my background in Education, I understand the challenges children encounter and can support them in their needs. In therapy, I use a Client Centered approach in which I support the child to make the best decisions for themselves to develop their autonomy. I also use Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness. I am also bilingual and able to assist Spanish speaking families.
More about Me
I am originally from El Paso Texas, I earned my MA from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona where I began my teaching career. I have now lived in San Antonio for 10 years and it has become my home. I love going hiking, and visiting anything water related such as Rivers, lakes, or beaches. I have a 12-year-old cat who I love tremendously. I love learning, reading spiritual and self-help books.
