Jacy Adams, LCSW, RPT

Hi, my name is Jacy! I am a registered play therapist that works with children ages 3-12. Working with children has always been a passion of mine. I believe that compassion and empathy are essential when working with children. I support children with many different challenges including grief and loss, chronic and terminal illnesses, anxiety, and depression. I help children to develop positive habits and coping skills they can use when faced with life’s many challenges.

Play Therapy

Children process their world differently than adults do. I believe that play is the natural language of children. As a registered play therapist, I provide children the opportunity to process their emotions through the use of play. When providing play therapy, I use both a child centered approach, celebrating the individuality of each child as well as more directive techniques to aid in mastery of coping skills. I use various modalities such as sand tray, art therapy techniques, and family play therapy to address various needs.

Chronic Illness

Receiving a diagnosis of a chronic or terminal illness can be very difficult for both you and your child. I provide support and coping strategies to help children and families navigate this new journey. I utilize both child centered play therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy to help children cope with the additional stressors of having a chronic illness. I help children with stress management and relaxation techniques to decrease tension and change the way the child thinks about the illness.

Grief and Loss

Grief can manifest itself in many ways, especially in children. I support children experiencing grief by providing a safe space to explore these emotions in a way that is comfortable for them to express. I assist children in learning coping strategies, mindfulness techniques, and other interventions to help support them through their grief journey.

How I Can Help

Seeing your child struggle can be incredibly challenging. I am so glad you have taken the courageous step to seek help for your child. My passion is to help support children on their journey and provide them evidenced based, age appropriate interventions to help them overcome behavioral and emotional issues. We will work together to support and empower your child to cope with the struggles they are experiencing. I look forward to meeting with you, learning more about your child, and collaborating to develop a unique plan to help your child.
