Hello (Hola!) my name is Janette Hernandez, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), with over 20 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and families. My experience includes working with clients who experience stress, anxiety, depression, anger, or Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD). I believe strongly in each person’s ability to make necessary changes that improves a person’s mood, bringing satisfaction to a person’s life. To help support the changes a person makes, I draw strongly from Rogerian therapy that is a personcentered therapy. This approach is empathic that motivates and empowers the client in the therapeutic process. The individual treatment plan developed is based on the client’s needs and identified goals.
How I Can Help
I earned a Master’s degree in Community Counseling from St Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from UTSA and a Bachelor of Arts in Theology (St. Mary’s University) in San Antonio, Texas. My work experience includes working with juvenile adolescents in a residential setting, children in the Foster Care system and most recently my life as a Therapist was significantly influenced by the children, adolescents and families of Cook Children’s Medical center in Fort Worth, Texas. My training in Integrated care, Trauma care and ACEs allows me to support the client in recognizing the root of their problems/issues and make changes that will affect their lives in positive manner.
