Marian Slaughter, LPC

Marian Slaughter, LPC

Hello, and welcome! I am Marian Slaughter, a Licensed Professional Counselor, and a US Navy Veteran. After completing my career as a middle school science teacher, I delved into counseling in order to help children and their families at a much deeper level than I ever could as an educator. My counseling experience has included working with children and active-duty military families who were transitioning from active duty to veteran status. I have experience in working with children/teens in Foster Care, and with children/teens who experience anxiety and depression, plus those who have experienced trauma.

How I Can Help

Having a background in education, I thoroughly understand the many challenges that children and teens encounter; know that I can support them in their needs. I am certified in dialectical behavioral therapy, cognitive processing therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and prolonged exposure. In therapy, I use a Client-Centered approach in which I support the child to make the best decisions for themselves to develop their autonomy. I also will use Play Therapy, and Mindfulness.
