Pete Martinez, LPC-S

Hi, I am Pete Martinez and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC-S).  Most of my professional career has revolved around working with children, adolescents, and their parents and families.  I earned my Bachelors degree in Psychology and Art at Trinity University.  I attended Our Lady of the Lake University where I received a Master of Science degree in Psychology with an LPC emphasis, as well as cross training in childhood violence prevention.  I also received a Master of Education degree from Trinity University.

In my career I have worked inpatient and outpatient child and adolescent care, as well as working with therapeutic foster children and adolescents.  I was a Counselor/Therapist and Program Director with Family Services Association of San Antonio.  Since October of 1998 I have been a Teacher, Guidance Counselor and middle and high school Principal in private and public education.

My guiding principle has always been to do what is best for my kids and my families.  It is difficult to maneuver the changes and emotions that arise during childhood and adolescence, and often there is a need for support and assistance.  I have found a place for my counseling skills in every venue; always with the goal of helping my kids to reach their potential and be prepared to find success wherever they may go and whatever they may do.

How I Can Help

I have worked with ADD/ADHD, conduct disorder, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, transient situational issues, and many other issues.  I believe that the best solutions are developed closest to the point of implementation.  As such, I strive to work collaboratively with my clients to help them find the solutions that will best work for them, as well as integrating those solutions into their lives.  Approaches I have used with my clients include: Solution Focused, Narrative, Strengths Focused, Cognitive Behavioral, Play Therapy, and Group Process.

More About Me

I was born and raised in San Antonio.  I grew up in what is now called South Town, near the King William area.  I attended Brackenridge High School, graduating in 1974 from the original Brack!  I am a proud San Antonian, and so blessed to be working with a great group at Mind Works.
