Hello! My name is Shayla Frazier, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I graduated from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi with my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology in 2017, and then earned my Masters of Science at University of Texas – San Antonio in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2019. My experience includes working with adults, adolescents, teenagers, refugees, juvenile detention teenagers, and adults with intellectual disabilities.
How I Can Help
The first step in any therapeutic relationship starts with building rapport. As rapport is getting established then we can move towards exploring the past and create goals toward the future. After the goals are set, the next step is to then create reasonable steps towards completing those goals. The best way to describe my counseling style is non-judgmental, understanding, respectful, kind, and compassionate. I am also an empathic listener and try to truly understand what it is like to be in my client’s shoes. The theories I like to utilize are Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Client Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution Focused Therapy. Goals for my client include fostering a safe, welcoming, and comfortable environment.
More About Me
When I’m not in the office, I naturally tend to gravitate towards more relaxing activities. I find joy in making memories with my family, painting, trying new recipes, watching Disney movies, trying new restaurants, and playing with my puppy.
